The Conversation

This is for all our words
that narrowly missed each other
For that moment we almost listened
And how you spoke of reality
and the quantity of things
you hoped to achieve
I believe you said
you were meant to be rich
and grew restless that I thought
we were
For at that moment we felt at odds
one thing being firm as wealth
the other too overblown with affection
You were looking out our window
for straight thinking
I was touching your face formed
in perfect profile
I imagined clearly
everything that was said.

Coverings

This is the canopy I made for our bed
Circular, it falls in froth and pastels
The sides are open to escape
When the wind lifts the drapes
our entire contraption turns
in a merry go round of spins
till I am weary
with your efforts
of indifferent infidelity
that stops the music
I flow in.
