Spiel                            three poems

potentate

the cow
has led
the cow
has led the cow
has led the cow
each calf
following its cow

the loud dog
gleefully
pisses himself
under the delusion
he makes it happen

he perks
his lordly pride
ripping the anus
of a calf

then bathes
the foul air
of his plunder
bursting
and spilling
its soft belly
with his superior canines

oblivious
to the circling army
of cows
as they close in on him

early milk

sixth grade art class
cindy wore tight white shirtblouses
with her starched collar turned up

her breasts were growing too fast
and made her left nipple lactate
through the thin cotton

i’m sure i had not suckled
since those first glorious moments
after my mother shot me out her hole

sometimes in art class
my pecker kind of lactated
and i had to ask miss luddick
may i be excused

block party

draw opposing neighbors
door to door

eager to share
what they don’t
want anymore

Pushcart Prize contender, the poet Spiel, is a tight-wired maverick painting naked word portraits of humankind, thin-layering its hirsute beastiness, occasionally revealing its humanity through scores of independent press publications, online and off, throughout the world—commonly employing poetry of conflict, profoundly human short stories and seductive spoken word recordings. His most recent releases are: They, a new book of poetry published by March Street Press and, breathing back words, an 80 minute spoken word c.d. collaboration with contemporary composer, Jack Moss.
