Stella Thompson
two poems
Seventeen
Can it not wait until I see you
On snow capped mountains
Where time and trouble
No longer rule
Evening shades are not blue
Silence permeates the atmosphere
You and I together in the interim
In tandem with folk galore
Or shadows of the past
Invade my privacy
In tormented moments of craziness
I invest in a vested interest
To shade my face from life itself
Or cast off the clothes of yesterday
Until the questioner asks me "why"
Do you no longer cry?
Nothing left to cry about
Joy abounds in souls forever young
Faded Facade
Breeze blows hot and cold
In mystical formats
Not a trace visible
When you give a silent greeting
Stay on the front of what is ordered
Blown away
By a mysterious force of energy
Shifting sands or wind beaten paths
Shaking, making it happen
Soaked in adversity
Should you wish to ask me
Spiritual life beyond the grave
Give us grace to see
What life holds up to our reflection
Other than a faded facade
Blessed be the peacemakers
Who shall inherit the land!
